What it is
ukspend makes London's public spending searchable. It covers 33 London authorities and £118.4bn across more than 16.6 million transactions, all taken from the councils' own published payment data. It started as the GLA Spend Explorer, a single-authority viewer, and grew from there.

Residents, journalists and researchers who want to follow London's public money without wrestling raw spreadsheets.
How it works
- Search. Filter by borough, vendor, category and year, then read the payments that match.
- Council pages. Every council has its own page and an explorer, so you can stay inside one authority's spending.
- Homepage highlights. The largest national vendors, the biggest year-on-year rises and falls, and anomalous spikes.
- Coverage and benchmarks. Benchmarks and a data-coverage page show what's loaded and what isn't, so you know the limits before you quote a figure.

What is ukspend and what data does it use?
ukspend is a free site that makes London's public spending searchable. It draws on the published payment data of 33 London authorities, totalling £118.4bn across more than 16.6 million transactions, with the latest running to March 2026.
Is the Greater London Authority's spending on ukspend?
Not yet. ukspend started as the GLA Spend Explorer, a single-authority viewer for Greater London Authority spending, and grew into the 33-authority platform. The GLA's own data isn't loaded into ukspend yet, and the data-coverage page shows exactly what is.
Can I reuse ukspend data in my own project?
Yes. ukspend is free, needs no sign-up, and is published under the Open Government Licence. It also has a public JSON API, so researchers and journalists can pull the data directly.
